NominationApplicationDecisionRegistrationVisasOrientationDeparture EXCHANGE PROGRESS Decisions are typically made two to three weeks after the application deadline. Timing of the decision is dependent on the school that the student is applying to. Applicants will receive an email regarding the decision. This will act as the formal letter. APP DECISION

NominationApplicationDecisionRegistrationVisaOrientationDeparture EXCHANGE PROGRESS Course registration is prior to arrival. For visa purposes, students must take at least 12 credit hours per semester (~ 4 courses). On the application, students provide a list of intended courses. Academic departments determine student eligibility for courses. Students register through a system know as PeopleSoft. REGISTRATION

NominationApplicationDecisionRegistrationVisasOrientationDeparture EXCHANGE PROGRESS VISA PROCESS STUDY ABROAD OFFICE (SAO) OFFICE OF INTERNATIONAL SERVICES (OIS) Visa Departure Orientation Engineering and Business students will be assisted by SOE and CBA. Arts and Sciences students will be assisted by SAO. Details in the admissions letter. VISA PROCESS 1.SAO informs OIS of the admissions decision. 2.OIS creates the SEVIS account. 3.OIS mails DS-2019 to student. 4.Student uses DS-2019 to apply for the J-1 visa at an American consulate or embassy. 5.Student has the visa interview and submits paperwork. 6.Student receives visa stamp. 7.Student books air plane tickets.

NominationApplicationDecisionRegistrationVisasOrientationDeparture EXCHANGE PROGRESS International student orientation is typically 2 weeks before classes begin in the Fall & a few days in the Spring. Airport pickup is available through the Office of International Students (OIS) if students arrive close to the dates of orientation. Organized mainly by OIS. ORIENTATION

NominationApplicationDecisionRegistrationVisasOrientationDeparture EXCHANGE PROGRESS Towards the end of the semester, students will receive an email from SAO about transcripts. Students must fill out a Transcript Release Form and submit it to SAO in order to have the transcript sent to their home institution. After the end of the semester, SAO will retrieve all transcripts and mail them directly to the home institution. DEPARTURE
