Home Study Launch

How will your work be assessed?
3
During this home study you are going to find out about how animals have adapted to survive in the rainforest. You will also design your own animal. First pick an animal that lives in the rainforest (use your video notes from the first lesson) it could be anything from a terrifying tarantula to a slow sloth! Use the Internet find out about your animal – what does it look like? How does it survive in the rainforest? Does it have any adaptations? Websites are saved to the VLE so use these first to help!
4
Now you are ready to start designing your animal follow these instructions: On scrap paper list all the features your animal must have to survive in the rainforest. Think about: How will it gather its food? How will it move about? Does it need protective features? How big will it be? Where will it live? Start sketching your creature to include the features in your list. Also think about: Colour? Texture? Shape? Size? 3. Now you are ready to complete your neat version. On plain A4 paper draw your design clearly and carefully and colour in. 4. The most important bit – annotate (label) all its features. All around your animal describe its adaptations such as how it will move, its skin texture and colour, size ……. 5. Now give it a name and your Home Study is done!
5
You have 4 weeks to complete this Home Study – Put it in your planner!!!
6
Learning Objectives To explain how plants and animals have adapted to their environment.

Has adaptation finished? Discuss – have we fully adapted? Will humans change How would you adapt humans for the future – think about technology and what we don’t need any more as a result of it
