Journey to Marseilles BY MATTHEW HOFF

Welcome to Marseilles  Marseilles is one of the biggest, and most traveled to city in France.

Getting to Marseilles  One of the shortest routes takes 14 hours (7:00 p.m.-9:00 a.m.), if I left on June 30.  This specific route will cost $1,001.07  To get a Passport in PA, I need to have a drivers license, have proof of U.S. citizenship, and need to pay at least 200$ for application fees. I can apply for this passport in any local traveling agency stations.  Some illnesses I would need to get a vaccine on includes Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Rabies.  In Euros, I would have 1465.63 euros in exchange for $2000.

Living in Marseilles  The apartment complex that seems to be the best place to live in is Outside of Town Centre where the rent is 412.50 Euros per month.  The area is a very popular site for both the French and tourists. So, there are many buildings, such as malls, restaurants, and museums that will keep me entertained during my visit.  While it is a famous and popular in the city, it is very crowded. So by means of transportation, it appears evident that subways and walking are the best form of transportation.

Traveling Around Marseilles  France’s Railroad system is a very sophisticated and efficient form of transportation, and it costs 1.70 Euros. However, trains are very crowded, and is not typically the fastest.  Taxis are also a very popular way to get around in France, and the typical price for riding a taxi is only 1.22 Euros. However, the roads in France are very crowded, and it is most likely that you won’t get to your destination in efficient time.  It appears evident that biking from place to place is very efficient, and even though the bike might be a little expensive, you only have to pay for it once, and traveling happens much faster.

Playing at Marseilles  For one option, I can go to the Athanor Theatre to enjoy some classical French dramas and plays.  To enjoy some causal French food, I can stop by the Courant D’air Café for a bite to eat. To get more educated on France’s history and culture, I can visit the Villa Mediterranee museum. Lastly, it appears that The Grand Littoral retail park is an ideal to go shopping for some Marseille’s souvenirs.
