Homework Written on the board daily No credit will be given to unexcused late homework Is given 4-5 times a week Ongoing work –Independent Reading Book –Entries in WNB and RNB

Grading Summative (50%): on demand writing assessments, final drafts (process pieces), reading and grammar tests Workshop (40%): notebook checks, quizzes:vocabulary and grammar, reading logs, Skill of the Month packets, participation (based on rubric) Homework (10%): daily homework/independent practice

Literature Selected by students based on interest and reading ability Individual reads, partner reads, book clubs Book Log Conferences Responses

Reading Logs Students should read at least 400 minutes a month. Reading does not have to be every night, but students should be reading consistently. Reading logs are randomly checked. They will be collected the last school day of each month.
