Words that describe tone are optimistic, pessimistic, critical, cynical, enthusiastic. Describe the tone of The Door, using one example from the poem to support your response.

Words such as certainly/ definitely have high modality, whereas words such as sometimes, perhaps, usually are lower on the modality scale. Identify one low modality word in the poem.
