Work Work occurs when: 1.An object moves when a force is applied 2.The direction of the objects motion is the same as the direction of the force Formula: Work = Force X Distance W = F X D Units are Joules! (Newtons X meters = Joules)
2
Example: If you push a 200 N file cabinet 10 meters, how much work was done?
3
Power Power= the rate at which work is done Formula Power= work = w time t Units are Watts (W)! ( joules/ sec= watt)
4
Example: What is the power of a motor boat that does 10,000 J of work in 30 seconds?
