Summary of the Article The author is a self-professed student of Urie Bronfenbrenner Dual meaning of the title… Seminal work of Bronfenbrenner: The Ecology of Human Development: Experiments by Nature and Design (1979) The holistic approach to ecological systems theory A paradox on the ecological model Bronfenbrenner’s hypotheses. The evolution of the theory.

Four Questions: 1. What are the connections between school and home as they relate to the student's choice of schools, or not continuing in post-secondary education? 2. Why is it important to recognize the importance of community culture, or socio-economic status as it relates to the classroom? 3. Can you think of an situation in your own work or department on campus, where the student's ecological environment is impacted by what you do? 4. Why do you suppose family straddles both the Exo- system and the Micro-system in the model?

Conclusion: In conclusion, I believe the article is important in understanding the history of student development as a science. By following the evolution of Bronfenbrenners work, we can see his own ecological systems model and outcomes that have added to body of knowledge in the field of human and student development.
