4 Next Generation Learners has two testing components: K-PREP and EPAS K-PREP: Kentucky Performance Rating for Educational Progress EPAS: Educational Planning and Assessment System

5 K-PREP Kentucky Performance Rating for Educational Progress Content specific assessments given at the Elementary, Middle and High School levels

6 K-PREP Reading (Grades 3-8) Math (Grades 3-8) Science (Grades 4 & 7) Social Studies (Grades 5 & 8) On-Demand Writing (Grades 5, 6, 8, 10 & 11) Language Mechanics (Grades 4 & 6)

7 K-PREP Elementary Grade 3 Reading and Mathematics Grade 4 Reading, Mathematics, Science, Writing Editing and Mechanics Grade 5 Reading, Mathematics, Social Studies and Writing On- Demand

8 K-PREP Middle School Grade 6 Reading, Mathematics, Writing (Editing and Mechanics) and Writing (On-Demand) Grade 7 Reading, Mathematics, and Science Grade 8 Reading, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Writing On-Demand

9 K-PREP High School Writing On-Demand 10 th and 11 th grade End of Course Assessment English 2, Algebra 2, Biology and U.S. History After the course work is completed Scores are counted two ways Part of students grade in the course Part of the state accountability system

10 K-PREP Question Types Multiple Choice Short Answer Extended Response On-Demand Writing.

11 K-PREP When Districts must set a five consecutive day testing window for each grade span (elementary, middle, and high) during the last 14 instructional days of the school year. Districts will be asked around December/January to set their windows with adjustments allowed after winter.

12 EPAS: Educational Planning & Assessment System EXPLORE Given in September to 8 th graders scored on a range of 1 - 25 PLAN Given in September to 10 th graders Scored on a range of 1 - 32 ACT Given in March to 11 th graders Scored on a range of 1 - 36

13 EPAS EXPLORE, PLAN and ACT Benchmarked/norm referenced assessment Measures college readiness Students receive a score in each content area Reading Language Mathematics Science reasoning Student receive an overall composite score
