24 What happens next? If a student scores a 3 or higher- they have met the state requirement for third grade! If a level 1 or 2, students are given a re-test If they pass the retest with a level 3 or higher- they have met the state requirement. If they do not pass the retest, they are given the state “Read to Achieve” assessment. If they do not meet any of the state requirements, they have the option of attending summer school

25 What can I do at home? Make sure your child is reading every night (at least 30 minutes) Have your child read a variety of texts Listen to and read with your child (asking questions as you go along) Review and interact with your child on the reading homework passages

27 What about the week of the test? Do not stress out over the test Encourage your child and let them know they are ready! Get plenty of rest and keep a regular routine Eat a good breakfast and send them to school relaxed and confident DON’T MAKE IT A BIG DEAL!
