SCRIPTURE READING

THE ROAD TO CHANGE!

I. BIOGRAPHY OF SAUL He described himself as the worst of sinners.

I TIMOTHY 1:15-16 15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.

I. BIOGRAPHY OF SAUL 1. He dragged men and women to prison.

ACTS 8:3 3 But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off both men and women and put them in prison.

ACTS 26:10-11 10 And that is just what I did in Jerusalem. On the authority of the chief priests I put many of the Lord’s people in prison, and when they were put to death, I cast my vote against them. 11 Many a time I went from one synagogue to another to have them punished, and I tried to force them to blaspheme. I was so obsessed with persecuting them that I even hunted them down in foreign cities.

I. BIOGRAPHY OF SAUL 2. He supervised the stoning of Stephen.

I. BIOGRAPHY OF SAUL 3. His crusade in Damascus

I. BIOGRAPHY OF SAUL  He held letters of extradition.

ACTS 9:10-16 10 In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, “Ananias!” “Yes, Lord,” he answered. 11 The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. 12 In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.”

CONTINUED: 13 “Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem. 14 And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.” 15 But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel. 16 I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”

II. LESSONS FROM THE STORY OF SAUL’S CONVERSION  No one is too bad to be saved.

II. LESSONS FROM THE STORY OF SAUL’S CONVERSION  Saul thought he was doing the right thing.

II. LESSONS FROM THE STORY OF SAUL’S CONVERSION  God sought Saul even while he was persecuting God’s people.

ROMANS 5:8 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

II. LESSONS FROM THE STORY OF SAUL’S CONVERSION  God’s pursuit almost always involves human interaction.

II. LESSONS FROM THE STORY OF SAUL’S CONVERSION  Your story is worth repeating.
