2 LBJ and Civil Rights Lyndon Johnson pledged to carry on JFK’s work w/ Civil Rights Urged and pushed for Kennedy’s CR bill to be passed Passed in the House and filibustered in Senate Johnson ended filibuster and Kennedy’s bill became the Civil Rights Act of 1964 After passage, goal of the CR movement became focused on securing the right to vote
