Brought to you by Some History of the Rail Inspectors The STSIP was created in February 2005 – Exactly 10 years ago… Original staff was three people First task was to hire, train, equip and deploy 100 inspectors by September 30, 2005

L. 108- 334) and Conference Report (House Report 108-774) Appropriated $12 million for rail security $10 million “ to support the deployment of up to 100 federal rail compliance inspectors ” and $2 million for the deployment of “canine explosive detection teams” Purposes 1. Ensure compliance with TSA developed security standards that were conveyed to the industry 2. Identify and reduce vulnerabilities and gaps in passenger rail
