Open Innovation

It is unlikely that all the best (or even very good) ideas are all located in one organization and even if you have an idea in mind, can one organization really manage all of the aspects necessary to realise it?

Italian firm Alenia Aeronautica makes the center fuselage, French firm Messier-Dowty makes the aircraft's landing-gear system, German firm Diehl Luftfahrt Elektronik supplies the main cabin lighting, Swedish firm Saab Aerostructures manufactures the access doors and and Japanese company Jamco makes parts for the lavatories, flight deck interiors and galleys

Bluelightworks™ is an innovative, pre-competitive, Industry collaboration framework that can provide unbiased, objective advice supporting change initiatives. Our role is to deliver improvements and efficiencies through technology, business processes and resources to support the end-user and the overall enterprise, working to de-risk critical decisions and and improve outcomes. Bluelightworks™ delivers a firm foundation of advice to: – Improve the quality of decisions – Provide innovative and agile thinking – De-risk future outcomes – Build a knowledge base for future programmes

Why? UK ‘Bluelight’ organisations deservedly have a high reputation, but face continually increasing demands Reduced Resources Changing and Increasing Threats/Demands Changing and Increasing public expectations Must deliver despite challenges of – Fragmented and Federated Structured – Partial/Variable Collaboration – Demanding performance targets across Bluelight services – Diversity of equipment, standards and procedures – Federated and Tactical Procurement not always linked to defined strategic outcomes – Constrained budgets and Inefficient expenditure

Sectoral Collaborative / Open Innovation Drawing on the best resources, problems are assessed and generic solutions developed drawing on experience and knowledge from; – Experienced Bluelight practitioners Leadership bodies, Colleges, Research and Practice Institutes – Industrial specialists From across industry, large and small organisations – Universities – Science, Technology, Engineering as well as Business change, process analyses, behavioural research – Trade & Professional associations Reaching out to innovators Working together to analyse, test and explore – Under strict rules – Commercial, ethical and behavioural – Sharing yet protecting intellectual property – Letting ideas ‘see the light of day’ – Within the guidelines of BS11000

Digital Derm Help - Aims Establish flexible system, recognizing differences in service configuration: Initial focus to assess opportunity to increase capacity for successful patient encounters by 10% on basis of replacing- an existing face-to-face direct clinical care session with a digital session, where appropriate, where new service would have capacity to assess at least double patient number as per face-to-face consultations, or permit efficiencies via triage that enabled a 10% increase in service capacity Evaluate all perspectives: patient, primary care practitioner, specialist and health economist evaluations Seek Chief Executive support to enable incorporation of digital-dermatology into job plans of consultant dermatologists, as per service needs, to optimize improvements in access for patients and realise efficiencies from increased service capacity
