1 Energy Flow in Ecosystems
2.1 Energy Flow in Ecosystems

2 Energy roles a Producer a Consumer or a Decomposer
Each of the organisms in an ecosystem fills an energy role. They can be a Producer a Consumer or a Decomposer

3 Producers – Green Plants
Producers - An organism that can make its own food by the process of PHOTOSYNTHESIS

4 Consumers Consumers - An organism that obtains energy by feeding on other organisms. Herbivores Carnivores Omnivores Scavengers

5 Decomposers - recyclers
Decomposers – An organism that breaks down wastes and dead organisms.

6 Energy Moves Through an ECOSYSTEM
The movement of energy can be shown in two different diagrams called: 1-Food chains 2-Food webs

7 Food Chains – A series of events in which one organism eats another and obtains energy.

8 Food Web – The pattern of overlapping food chains in an ecosystem.

9 Energy Pyramid The greatest amount of energy is available at the (bottom) producer level of the pyramid. As you move up the pyramid, each level has ONLY 10% of the energy available in the level below.

10 Energy Pyramid end
