SENTIR vs. SENTIRSE When expressing our feelings or emotions, we will use SENTIRSE Intransitive use (as in, To feel + adjective) Reflexive/Uses direct object pronouns The standard SENTIR is used in the sense of to feel, regret [something]. Ex.) “Lo siento” = I’m sorry Transitive use of the verb (conjugation followed by an object)

Note: A reflexive verb is when the action reflects back onto the person/object being spoken of.

SENTIRSE In addition to using reflexive pronouns, SENTIR/SENTIRSE is a stem-changing verb. e ie stem-change rule. New stem? sient- All forms except nosotros(as)

1. I feel worried. Me siento preocupado(a). 2. She feels frustrated. Se siente frustrada. 3. Do you feel sick? ¿Te sientes enfermo? 4. He feels bored. Se siente aburrido. 5. We feel lonely. Nos sentimos solitarios. 6. They feel ecstatic. Se sienten extáticos.
