2 I NTEGRATING Google Apps WITH Moodle Project Overview Use Cases for Google Apps in Moodle Linking a Google Account to a Moodle Profile Using Google Drive for Dynamic File Resources Setting Permissions for Dynamic File Resources Challenges & Future Development Resources & Questions

3 P ROJECT O VERVIEW History Luther College pioneered the integration in 2011 with their product MORSEL Moodle’s core repository (Legacy Course Files) was supposedly being eliminated Used In production for 3.5 years Luther’s Presentation at MootUS15 prompted collaboration Transitioned from Custom Code to Modification of Core Repository Collaboration Weekly Zoom Video Conferences JIRA Project Management Github Code Management

4 U SE C ASES FOR Google Apps IN Moodle As an instructor I want to be able to connect my Google Account once, and have Moodle remember it indefinitely. I want to be able to share a dynamic Google document (not a static upload) through the file picker (as opposed to having to paste a link) I want to be able to embed a resource in Moodle from Google Drive so students don’t have to leave Moodle to view it I want these document secured so that only students in my course can view them, and only instructors can edit them

5 L INKING A Google Account TO A Moodle Profile Core Google Drive Repository Access to Google Drive is limited to a single session Products like Schoology and Canvas have persistent connections Our Prototype User can link their account from the repository the first time it is used Link is stored in the User Profile page
