2 Philippians – Joy in the Journey Week #3 “Joy Regardless” Philippians 1:12-20

3 “When we got to Rome, Paul was allowed to live by himself, with a soldier to guard him.” (Acts 28:16)

4 Guard = Prisoner chained wrist to wrist with a Roman soldier

5 “For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. Boldly and without hindrance he preached the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Acts 28:30-31)

6 Joy regardless, for the gospel advanced.

7 Recognize the sovereignty of God. Challenging times are not meant to hinder your faith, but rather mature your faith. God’s purposes need not be thwarted.

8 “For you have been my hope, O Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth.” (Psalm 71:5)

9 “In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37)

11 Life was all about the gospel existing in him and extending through him.
