FOR TRAINING USE ONLY Leading as a Knob As you turn your focus to finishing knob year, maintain honorable leadership by striving among your peers Ensure you are doing the right thing and correct those who are in the wrong Even as a knob, your honorable leadership is tested and can head start you in your cadet career as a leader 4
5
FOR TRAINING USE ONLY Path of an Investigation Accuser confronts Co. Honor Rep Co. Honor Rep fills out Accusation sheet Chain of Command sends sheet up to Vice-Chairman of Investigations VCI and Faculty Advisor determine whether or not to investigate
6
FOR TRAINING USE ONLY If so, VCI assembles Investigation Team Investigation has 15 days to investigate After 15 days, Defense counsel has 5 days to gather evidence Case goes to Honor Trial If Open Trial, spectators depart after closing statements (Do not hear ruling from Honor Court)
7
FOR TRAINING USE ONLY Scenario Your friend submitted to take a weekend on a closed weekend. In his justification, he wrote, “I am going home to Greenville, SC from Friday-Sunday to go to my older brother’s wedding.” His leave is approved. 1 week later, he posts pictures on Facebook of him partying in Savannah, Georgia with high school friends that Saturday night. What should you do?
8
FOR TRAINING USE ONLY Report the Incident Since you can safely assume your friend intentionally lied in his leave request, go tell your Honor Rep of what you saw. Though in this situation, it appears clear that he did commit an Honor Violation, it is not your job to make a ruling for yourself. Report what you saw and let the Investigation Team and the Honor Trial determine a ruling.
9
FOR TRAINING USE ONLY Scenario Your friend now writes, “I am going to go to my brother’s wedding on Friday night in Greenville, SC, then to Savannah, GA on Saturday night.” While in Columbia for a USC football game on Saturday, you happen to see your friend stopped at a BP gas station, pumping gas. Did your friend commit and Honor Violation for stopping in Columbia?
10
FOR TRAINING USE ONLY No Obviously when traveling lengthy distances, stopping for gas and taking breaks is necessary. However, there is a line that can be crossed. Do not feel worried to make brief stops, but do not have extended stays at places unknowing to your Cadet Chain of Command.
11
FOR TRAINING USE ONLY Scenario You and your friend arrive back on campus on a Wednesday night at 2100. You have both signed out for a Charleston Pass. At Lesene Gate, your friend notices he accidently grabbed his roommates Charleston Pass when he left campus earlier that evening. Since both he and his roommate have Dean’s List, and Sgt. Maj. Yeagle is staring him in the eyes waiting for him to turn in his Charleston Pass, he assumes it’s fine and gives it to him. Is this an Honor Violation?
12
FOR TRAINING USE ONLY Yes When submitting a Charleston Pass to the guard at Lesene Gate, you must be proficient, have the card signed, and turn in your own. By turning in someone else’s card, you are lying.
13
FOR TRAINING USE ONLY Review Why is it important for the corps to carry proper Charleston Passes and provide clear justifications when submitting leave? Present examples where you can display honorable leadership in these last few months as a knob. Provide the path of an investigation. 13
14
FOR TRAINING USE ONLY Provide Feedback Now that you are familiar with Honor LTP classes, help us help you Provide feedback on how the classes have been going, what you liked/disliked, and what you want to learn Company Honor Reps will submit feedback up the Chain of Command
