1 COLOR WHEEL

2 WHY LEARN ABOUT THE COLOR WHEEL?
I can learn which colors I should mix to get other colors. I can learn which colors are more powerful than others. I can learn which colors make others look brighter or duller and which colors blend together. I can learn how colors affect people’s emotions.

3 COLOR GROUPS Primary Secondary Intermediate Neutral Red Green
Yellow-Orange Gray Yellow Orange Red-Orange Brown Blue Violet Yellow-Green Black Blue-Green Red-Violet Blue Violet White

4 R + Y = RO R + B = BV Y + B = BG R + Y = O R + B = V Y + B = G
COLOR EQUATIONS MIX THE PRIMARIES IN EQUAL PARTS TO GET THE SECONDARIES: R + Y = O R + B = V Y + B = G WHEN MIXING INTERMEDIATES, YOU STILL USE THE PRIMARIES, BUT USE LESS OF THE MOST POWERFUL OF THE 2 COLORS.* R + Y = YO R + B = RV Y + B = YG R + Y = RO R + B = BV Y + B = BG *Large letter means use LOTS of that color. Small letter means a LITTLE of that color. Tiny letter means use a itsy, bitsy bit of that color.

5 COLOR GROUPS COMPLEMENTARY ANALOGOUS Two colors directly
across from each other on the Color Wheel. When placed beside each other, complementary colors make each other look their brightest. When mixed together, they will dull each other down until they become neutral. Three colors next to each other on the Color Wheel. each other, these hues will blend with each other. analogous colors will create a new tone that will also blend with the group.

6 ALL COLORS WARM NEUTRAL COOL WARM
Colors like pink, red-violet, gold, peach, etc. are all members of the WARM family. The dominant hue in these combination colors is a WARM color. Colors such as lavender, blue-green, plum, indigo, etc. are considered to be cool colors. The dominant hue in these combination colors is a COOL color Neutral colors are not warm OR cool, but they will take on the look of both. Brown can look cool if it has a bluish tone in it, but it can also look warm if it has a yellow or reddish tone.

7 COLORS, EMOTIONS, AND YOU
WARM colors will make people feel happy, excited or sometimes tense. C00L colors will make people feel calm, relaxed, peaceful, or even sad. Neutral colors will make people feel happy, or anxious if they are with WARM colors, and sad or peaceful if they are in with Cool colors .
