10 The Avalon Advantage The importance of Asia - Tourism Asian Markets continue to increase in importance. For year ending September 2013, visitors from Asian markets accounted for almost one-half of total international visitors to Victoria (47%, or 906,200), compared to just over a third in 2008 (37%, or 551,700). Visitors from Asian markets to Victoria have grown by 10.4% per annum over the last five years, while Western Hemisphere markets have increased by 1.8% per annum. 10

11 Expenditure by visitors to Victoria in 2022-23 is expected to reach: $2.02 billion by Chinese visitors (representing forecast average annual growth of 6.3%p.a.) $449 million by Malaysian visitors (4.6%p.a.) $398 million by Indian visitors (7.0% p.a.) $335 million by Singaporean visitors (1.7%p.a.) $308 million by Indonesian visitors (4.3%p.a.) $277 million by Hong Kong visitors (3.3% p.a.) $158 million by Korean visitors (3.3%p.a.) $143 million by Thai visitors (4.3%p.a.) 12 The Avalon Advantage The importance of Asia - Tourism These countries combined are expected to represent 60% of the forecast $6.84 million international overnight visitor spend in 2022 -23. These visitors are expected to represent 45% of the total 2.87 million forecast international overnight visitors to the state in 2022-23. 12
