* Label the top of the notes with today’s topic (Active and Passive Voice) and date (9/8) * Write the EQ on the line under the topic. * Draw a line to separate notes into a small left section and a large right section. * To determine the voice, ask: Today’s notes (left side, Cornell style) * 1. What is the subject? * 2. What is being done in the sentence (verb)? * 3. Who/what is doing the action? * 4. Can I put “by zombies” after the verb? * If the answers to 1 and 3 are the same= active voice * If the answers to 1 and 3 are different & 4 is yes= passive voice

* Using the information on active and passive voice, go back to your paragraph, highlight any active voice sentences and underline any passive voice sentences. * If you have no active voice, choose a sentence and rewrite it. * If you have no passive voice, choose a sentence and rewrite it. * On the left, write a question for each new piece of information or section. * Match the question with where the information starts on the right side. * Write a summary: answer the EQ; explain something(s) that will stick in your memory; ask a question about the information.
