1. Jamestown Video ESSENTIAL SKILL: IDENTIFY THE QUESTIONS YOU NEED TO ANSWER AND THE PROBLEMS YOU NEED TO SOLVE

Historians work with other professionals to piece together history:  Forensics: the investigation of crimes (often done by medical examiners)  Ballistics: the study of projectiles (such as bullets, bombshells, etc.)  Archaeology: the study of human activity in the past (using artifacts, architecture, and environment.

3. Directions:  Answer the video questions.  Write down new, unsolved questions that you would like answered about Jamestown.

4. 2 Paragraph Assignment (Due Friday)(minimum 6 sentences each, preferably typed)  Paragraph 1: What different methods have historians used to piece together the history of Jamestown? Explain 3 examples, by referring to the various methods, the evidence used, and the conclusions drawn.  Paragraph 2: How could you solve unanswered questions about Jamestown? Explain three unanswered questions you have about Jamestown, and propose methods to figure out the answers (e.g. what science, documents, evidence would you look for? Don’t limit yourself to the video ideas. Think of yourself as an investigator!)
