2. The Project In February 2011, National Grid embarked on a seven-year, £1bn project, to rewire London via deep underground tunnels. This is to meet the increasing electrical demand in greater London and help the city access the renewable energy going forward. The project should be complete and fully functional by 2011 and will follow the project life cycle until completion.
