3 Death of the puppy… ‘Now maybe George ain’t gonna let me tend no rabbits, if he finds out you got killed.’ Only thinking about his dream- no sympathy for the puppy. Suddenly aware of his actions- only realises he’s done wrong because George told him Doesn’t want to do wrong but he doesn’t have a choice- he’s a victim of his own strength. Foreshadowing the fact something worse is going to happen Pg.84

4 Curley’s Wife… “Why can’t I talk to you? I never get to talk to nobody. I get awful lonely.” Lennie said, “Well I ain’t supposed to talk to you or nothing.” Lennie knows he shouldn’t talk to Curley’s wife but she still tries to persuade him Curley’s Wife’s dream loneliness Curley’s wife is lower ranked She belongs only to Curley She picks on Lennie- he is lower ranked than her Pg.85

5 Curley’s Wife… “If Curley gets tough, you can break his other han’!” She’s not bothered about what happens to Curley. Giving Lennie bad ideas She knows what actually happened- hard to hide information from Trapped with Curley- nothing she can do about it No real love between them and they only married each other for position and authority
