1 Expressions in Perimeter Problems

2 Suppose you are given the perimeter, and need to find the sides. Example: The perimeter of the rectangle is 66. –What is the value of x? 6x – 4 2x + 5 The Perimeter is the Sum of all sides: (6x – 4) + (2x + 5) + (6x – 4) + (2x + 5) = 66 16x + 2 = 66 16x = 64 x = 4 Combine Like Terms

3 Example: The perimeter of the rectangle is 66. –The value of x is 4. –What is the value of each side? –What is the area? 6x – 4 = 6(4) – 4 = 20 2x + 5 = 2(4) + 5 = 13 The Area is the base multiplied by the height. A = (20)(13) = 260 Also 20 Also 13

4 Worksheet: Area and Perimeter H Area and Perimeter #10 is up front. Both Worksheets are due TODAY.
