Current work focus The focus of our work plan this year is to build a “process prototype” Anode Plane Assembly (APA), i.e. a full-scale 6x2.3m unit A key task is to design, build and commission an automated winding machine –Hardware is being assembled now and subsystem tests are underway –Z-stage hardware is together and being tested –Y-stage hardware is being assembled and will be ready for electrical integration in the next few days –PLC and software development is well underway Process prototype frame is complete The final design of the ProtoDUNE APA is nearly complete – the CR electronics boards and CE interface still need to be finalized Nearly complete draft of APA assembly procedure –APA traveler is being developed in parallel, this will be done in an electronic format (on a tablet)

Current work cont. APA production floor in the vault at SRC –Setup as a class 100k cleanroom, have up to 20k ft2 available –ProtoDUNE winder and process prototype are being set up there –Other tooling completed or in progress: transfer cart, in-process cart, interface frames and bearings, storage rack, lifting fixtures –Design for cryotest stand complete

Near term plans The focus this year is to be ready to begin ProtoDune APA construction by mid-September –Winder development is behind by ~6 weeks but overall work remains on track to meet Sept start A key milestone is the APA design review to be held at PSL July 13-14 –Finalize TDR document –Finalize quality and testing plans
