Power Distance Index (PDI) Example: The score of USA power distance is 40% and India power distance is 77%. In this scene, I saw the power distance when Dave call Todd to come to his office and he forced him to go to India to train a guys. In the beginning Todd doesn't want to travel but his manager didn’t give him a choice to decide if he want to go or not. This an instance of low power distance because Todd is an equal man, he decided to go to India and he afraid of losing his job.
3
Example: The score of USA individualism is 91% and India society is 48%. In this scene, Todd and Puro their conversation was about the parents. Puro said to Todd “ I don’t understand something about American life “. He said that because Todd live alone and he is a free man and he don’t miss his parents, he didn’t see his family always despite the near distance between him and his parents. However, in India society people are very closed to their family because they live as a tribe for instance the woman can’t leave her family because her family are responsible for her life she have to consult her family about everything for example she cannot marry anyone she want. Individualism versus Collectivism
4
Masculinity versus Femininity Example: This scene shows Masculinity versus femininity, India got 56% and USA got 62%. There is not much difference between these two society, woman can do anything like a man there is no different between them because they are live to work. Men and women have same jobs and same life style.
5
Example: This scene is an example of Long-term orientation, the Indian are respect the culture and didn’t accept any new change and want from the other to respect them culture even if the other are from deferent culture. And the score of long-term oriented are 51% and that enough to show how the Indian culture respect the stands for the fostering of virtues related to the past and present. long Term Orientation versus Short Term Normative Orientation
6
Individualism versus Collectivism Example: The score of USA individualism is 91%. In this scene, Puro’s aunty ask Todd a lot of question about his life and his relationship for instance she ask him “ what is your father do ?”, “ Are you married ?“. Todd feel annoyed and uncomfortable because it’s a privacy questions, in USA people take care of themselves and they have right of privacy. On the other hand, India got 48%. India have a collectivism culture because they prefer a group more than individual and they take a decisions as a group. When Puro’s aunty are free for asking Todd about his life.
