Sundries: Entrance to Vesuvius costs 8 euros per person. Entrance to Sorrento beach costs approximately 10 euros per person. You will need to budget for these entrance fees, as well as your spending money. I would recommend that you bring at least 80 euros in total. Packed lunches are provided by the hotel, although they are usually very basic. You may wish to bring some money for ice creams or snacks, as well as your spending money. The hotel will provide you with bottled water for your packed lunches but, don’t forget, it will be hot, so you will probably need to budget for buying bottled water too. It is much cheaper to buy bottled water in a supermarket or grocery shop than it is at a tourist site.

The Rules N.B.: These are absolutely non negotiable You absolutely must bring a hat and high factor sun cream with you on this trip and you must drink plenty of water. Italy in July is HOT and you WILL get ill if you don’t do this. It is your responsibility to take reasonable precautions against the sun. Staff take no responsibility for your failure to do so. Obviously, it goes without saying that alcohol and tobacco are banned for all pupils under the age of 18. Anyone caught with either of these items will be grounded and barred from any further residential trips. Italian culture is much less reserved than British; if you are approached in any way that makes you feel uncomfortable, please tell me straight away. You may not go out in groups of fewer than three people. Girls and boys’ bedrooms are separate and you are not to visit anyone else’s room after lights out. This also applies to the dreaded kids from other schools.... Anyone failing to follow the instructions of staff, putting anyone else in danger or breaking any of the rules will be grounded to the hotel for the duration of the trip.
