1.To begin click: File, New, then select Design 2.Next draw a rectangle. 3. Use the measuring tool to dimension the sides to 150mm by 75mm 4. Change to 2D view

5. Next you need to select the ‘Arc’ tool 6. Click on the line forming the right side of the rectangle. Click in the centre where the dot appears. 7. Click and drag the line, this may take a few tries (Press Ctrl-Z to undo a mistake). Drag it out to produce a nice curve.

8. If you need to change the size of the curve later on, use the dimension tool on the line, then change the value. 9. Next on the other end use a line tool from the centre and draw a straight line (hold shift to force it to become straight) 10. Draw two more lines to make a triangle, the first line is only used to construct the shape. 11. Now select each INNER line in turn and press delete, the shape is finished when it turns into a solid colour once again.

12. Change back to 3D view 13. Click ‘Extrude Profile’ and set the depth to 50mm above the workplane. 14. Use the ‘select faces’ tool to select the top of the hull.

15. In the menu bar, select ‘Workplane’ then ‘New Workplane’ call it ‘top of boat’ 16. Right click on the new workplane once it has appeared, click ‘New Sketch…’ 17. Call the New Sketch ‘top of boat’ also. 18. Change to the top view…

19. Draw a rectangle on the top of the boat. Use the dimension tool to change it’s size, and compare it to the boat to make it central. (dimension the sides of the rectangle to the sides of the boat.) 20. Turn back to a 3D view. 21. Click on the ‘Extrude Profile’ button, and set the depth to 40mm 22. Once complete select the top using the ‘Select Faces’ tool.

23. Once selected create a new workplane, inside the menus, click workplane, then new workplane. Call the workplane ‘funnel’ 24. Once the work plane has appeared in the top right, right click on side, and click new sketch, again calling it ‘funnel’ 25. Change again to a 2D view. Click the down arrow to access the drop down box.

27. On the new sketch draw a circle. 28. Dimension the circle to make sure it is in the centre, also dimension the circle itself to change it’s size. 29. Back to 3D view 30. Now extrude the profile, setting the depth to 25mm, click OK.

31. Use select faces to select the side of the upper section of the boat. 32. From the menu select ‘Workplane’ then click ‘New workplane’ call it ‘side of top’ 33. Right click the work plane on the left and click ‘New Sketch’ when the box appears, call this ‘side of top’ too.

34. Back to the 2D view 35. Use the circle tool to draw three circles onto the side of the top 36. Use the dimension tool to compare the edges of the circles to the side of the boat. This will make sure they are all straight. 37. Change back to 3D view 38. Use project profile, however this time select ‘Subtract material’, ‘Below workplane’ and ‘Thru entire part’. 39. Click OK! This will cut the holes out of the top section

40. Use select faces to select the deck of the boat. 41. Select ‘Round Edges’ in the box, enter a 3mm radius. 42. Click OK!

43. Use the arrow keys to nudge the boat upwards until you can see the base. 44. Use ‘Select faces’ to select the base. 45. Then click the ‘Round Edges button, this time when the box pops up enter the radius of 35mm. 46. Click OK! 47. Use the arrow keys to rotate you boat!
