2 Part 3 Your Role in HCC?

3 OpenerOpener Share with the person next to you at least two things you remember from reading over the By-Laws.

4 IntroductionIntroduction [1,19] What is the mission of Hope Community Church? [2,19] What is HCC’s vision statement? [3,19] What is the relationship between the mission and the vision?

5 IntroductionIntroduction [4,19] Who is the Lead Pastor of Hope Community Church and every church? [5,19] What is the role of the elders in the church? [6,19] How is replication used in the context of the church?

6 [7,19] Remember, the Church is God’s idea! He is the one who commenced the Church, He is the one who commands the Church, and He is the one who commissions the Church. [8,19] The word doctrine means “a set of beliefs.” IntroductionIntroduction

7 We believe: ❖ [9,20] In one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Core Doctrine of HCC is not is is is Father Son HolySpirit GOD

8 We believe: ❖ [10,20] Man was created in the image of God. Man, by his own choice, sinned and broke relationship and fellowship with God. At the fall, sin and death entered the world. Core Doctrine of HCC

9 We believe: ❖ [11,20] God, by His grace and because of His love for man, provided a means to reconcile the world to himself through the shedding of Jesus Christ’s blood on the cross. Without reconciliation, man is sinful to the core of who he is from conception and remains separated from God. Core Doctrine of HCC

10 We believe: ❖ [12,20] Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Furthermore, he arose in bodily form from the dead, ascended into heaven where He is currently at the right hand of God the Father and is our High Priest and Advocate. He is the only passageway to the Father. Core Doctrine of HCC

11 We believe: ❖ [13,20] When a person believes in his heart that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead and confesses with his mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, he is reconciled to God through faith and saved from eternal death. Core Doctrine of HCC

12 We believe: ❖ [14,21] Christ baptizes every believer with the Holy Spirit at the point of belief. The Holy Spirit regenerates the sinner and imputes Jesus’ righteousness onto the sinner, thus, making him forever acceptable to God. ❖ Original: Man receives the Holy Spirit at the point of salvation. The Holy Spirit washes the sinner clean and makes him Holy and acceptable to God. Core Doctrine of HCC

13 We believe: ❖ Every believer is baptized by the Holy Spirit and is a new creation and joint heir to the kingdom of God along with Jesus Christ. This single baptism by the Holy Spirit places the believer into Christ and His Body, which is the Church. Core Doctrine of HCC

14 We believe: ❖ [16,21] The Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God without error in the original manuscripts. They are the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. Core Doctrine of HCC

15 We believe: ❖ [17,21] As the believer seeks Christ through prayer, reading the Word of God and genuine Christian fellowship, he is transformed more and more into His likeness. Core Doctrine of HCC

16 We believe: ❖ [18,21] For unhindered fellowship with Christ, the believer must confess and repent of his sins. Core Doctrine of HCC

17 We believe: ❖ [19,21] The Holy Spirit teaches the believer all things. Core Doctrine of HCC

18 We believe: ❖ [20,22] All believers receive at least one spiritual gift to be used for the common good of the church. Core Doctrine of HCC

19 We believe: ❖ [21,22] Jesus Christ is Head of the Church and the Church is the Body of Christ on Earth, here to be His ambassadors and to carry out His will. It is the responsibility of each believer to carry out the Great Commission. Core Doctrine of HCC

20 We believe: ❖ [22,22] There will be a time when Jesus Christ is revealed to all people in His glory at which point all believers, both those who had died and those who are living, will be transformed completely into the likeness of Christ. The believer will fully recognize the spiritual blessings that he received at the point of salvation and will receive the remaining inheritance currently awaiting him, including eternal life. Core Doctrine of HCC

21 Looking over HCC’s Statement of Faith, pick 1 or 2 that stick out to you. Share those with the person next to you. Also share why you picked those 1 or 2. Review of Core Doctrine

22 Read Ephesians 4:11-16. [23,22] Ephesians 4:11-16 makes it clear that the goal for every believer is to reach spiritual maturity. This is also stated in the HCC mission statement. Goal for Each Member

23 Maturity is gained through a process of “building” (Ephesians 4:12 & 4:16) ❖ Community (Eph 4:11, 4:16 - the Body) ❖ Knowledge (Eph 4:13 - of the Son of God) ❖ Character (Eph 4:13 -...fullness of Christ) ❖ Ministry (Eph 4:15 - speaking the truth in love) Goal for Each Member

24 [24,22] From Ephesians 4:11-16, the elders agree that this level of maturity is reached through a transformation process that includes the following four building blocks: ❖ Building Community with others... ❖ Building Knowledge of God’s Word ❖ Building Character ❖ Building Ministry Goal for Each Member

25 Ephesians 4:16 states the Benefits of Spiritual Maturity ❖ Not swayed by false teaching ❖ Entire Body will build itself up in love Benefits of Building CKCM

26 Benefits of Building Community ❖ [25,23] The benefit of a community setting (like a House Church) is that it gives you the opportunity to serve and use the spiritual gift(s) that God has given to you. It’s also the place where you will be ministered to by others who are using their spiritual gifts to minister to you. In addition, House Church gives you a platform to share what God is teaching you in His Word. Benefits of Building CKCM

27 Benefits of Building Knowledge ❖ Knowledge is only gained by... readingstudying being taught ❖ Different Modes... Sunday Service House Church Support Ministries Classes (*something like we’re doing now) Self Pursuit Discipling Relationships Benefits of Building CKCM 27

28 Benefits of Building Knowledge ❖ [26,23] The benefit of gaining knowledge of the Truth is that God can use that knowledge to transform your thinking. He can also use that knowledge as part of the equipping process so you are better prepared to speak into someone else’s life using His Truth in tandem with your own life experience. Benefits of Building CKCM 28

29 Benefits of Building Character ❖ Often, character is built best in a discipling relationship Benefits of Building CKCM 29

30 Benefits of Building Character ❖ [27,23] The benefit of building character is that you begin to live out the transforming work of God in a way that becomes visible for others to see. As this occurs, it gives you a platform from which to speak into the lives of others. It also provides freedom from old sin habits which enables you to minister more powerfully into the lives of others. Benefits of Building CKCM 30

31 Benefits of Building a Ministry ❖ [28,24] There are several benefits to building a personal ministry. As the entire body is involved in this discipling process (some as disciples, some as mentors), the entire Body grows so that it “builds itself up in love.” In addition, when you take on the responsibility of investing into the life of someone else, God continues to grow you as His child through the process. Benefits of Building CKCM 31

32 [29,24] What are four building blocks to spiritual growth and maturity? [30,24] What are the benefits of each building block? Review of CKCM

33 Putting it All Together Sunday Service People from all walks of life Discovering the Church Discovering the Church Discovering Community (House Church) Discovering the Bible Discovering the Bible Ministry Knowledge Character Support Ministries Support Ministries You Are Here
