Manifestations of Inequality Inequality as to income Poverty is an amalgamation of many inequalities, not just as to income Culture also creates inequalities Bottom line: Precisely defining the inequality leads to effective countermeasures

Inequality and Children Inequalities do not affect children’s performance… until they are made aware that there are inequalities Inequalities create pressure on parents, depriving children of parental nurturing and guidance Circumstances perpetuate and breed more inequalities

Equalizers Goal: Eliminate inequalities; Enhance access to opportunities Education is the great equalizer Seemingly unrelated laws can also equalize: ◦ Reproductive Health ◦ Resource Management ◦ Freedom of Information
