2
An informative speech is a formal or informal situation where we must provide information like: describe an object, explain a process, or clarify a concept Usually require research on the speakers part. Formal informative speeches are like a research paper.
3
BE CLEAR- will everyone understand? BE CONCISE- will it fit within the time limit? BE COMPLETE- did I give all the information to understand the topic? BE CORRECT- is all of your information fact and not opinion? BE CONCRETE- do your examples help your audience see your point? CONNECT- can you connect your information to your audience?
4
Limit your subject in time- avoid long times like years or decades. Focus on days, weeks, and at the most months. Limit your subject in space- avoid international, or national. Focus on your own community or city, and at the most your state. Limit your subject in extent- avoid all elements or parts, and focus on a specific one. DIVIDE AND CONQUER!!
5
A positive statement about your topic. Examples: “Eating 5 servings of fruits and vegetables each day can dramatically reduce your chances of getting cancer.” “Beethoven’s hearing loss may actually have helped him compose music.” It must have support- facts, definitions, descriptions, and quotes.
