…was established in 1951 as the Textile Engineering Company and serviced a diverse range of customers...employ around 160 people Castle Precision Engineering… …produce critical precision components in areas such as aerospace, defence, electronic, petrochemical, energy and automotive 10 POINTS Who were Castle’s first major customers back in 1951?

…are ideally located in Glasgow to support the demanding needs of the North Sea fields. They produce machine components up to three and a half tonnes in weight, over one metre in diameter and up to four metres long to customers worldwide. …occupy almost 90,000 square feet of land with manufacturing and management buildings. Castle Precision Engineering…

Precision engineering is the design and building of complicated tools and instruments. It is important that all the parts of the tools and instruments are exactly right in size and position. What is Precision Engineering? The parts could be for all sorts of things – cars, aeroplanes, watches, lighting….

Castle are providing the wheels for the BLOODHOUND SSC car. They are to be made out of solid aluminium. (super sonic car) BLOODHOUND SSC A mixture of a Formula 1 car and a Jet, the car is targeted to reach 1000 mph – breaking the land speed record. 10 POINTS How long is the BLOODHOUND car going to be?

Beatrice Shilling When the aircraft was suddenly lowered, it became flooded with fuel, causing it to lose power or shut down completely. During the Battle of France and Battle of Britain in 1940, the engine powering Royal Air Force fighters had a serious problem... Beatrice devised a simple, yet ingenious, solution called the R.A.E. restrictor. It was a small metal disc with a hole in the middle, and fitted into the engine’s carburetor. Here’s a simple yet perfect example of precision engineering!
