Shift preserves a shape’s proportions—height and width grow the same. Ctrl causes a shape to grow or shrink from the center, rather than from the edge that’s being dragged. Illustrations. Images made up of lines, curves, and shapes that are usually filled with solid colors. – Also called Vector drawings. Photographs. Photographs made up of tiny colored dots that are made from scanned photographs or a digital camera. – Also called Bitmap pictures. 13

Clip art images are organized into collections and media types. You can choose to search all collections and types or to select a particular type. If you know that you want a photograph, select that type of media only to make the search more efficient. 14 Exercise 4-8 2 Figures 4-12 and 4-13

Pictures can add a sense of realism to your presentation. The Picture Tools Format tab has many commands for customizing and improving picture images. 2 20 Figure 4-17

CROP (trim) a selected picture to reduce its size or remove unwanted details around the edge. Click the Crop button and a picture’s sizing handles change to cropping handles—short black markers—that you drag to trim a picture. Exercise 4-13 Figure 4-20 3 22 Cropping handles
