Use of Pictures Back Then Pictures a long time ago were mainly used for portraits of families or just self portraits in which they would sit or stand for a long period of time (depending on the camera) for the picture to develop. Pictures were also used for other things whether it be landscapes, houses, etc.

Use of Pictures Now Pictures now are used for a big variety of things (basically anything you can think of)

The First Selfie A photographer appears to be photographing himself in a 19th- century photographic studio. Note clamp to hold the poser's head still. An 1893 satire on photographic procedures already becoming obsolete at the time.
