Policy Research and Innovation Research and Innovation Goal of H2020 Policy Support Facility To help MS and AC "improve the design, implementation and evaluation of R & I policies" Launched in 2015 to do "better and more" policy support (evidence-based R&I policies; tailor-made support) Drawing on the combination of o the high potential of learning between peers (i.e. policy-makers) o and high-level experts advice and assistance

(1) Peer Reviews of national R&I systems: 2015: Peer Review of the Bulgarian R&I system & Pre-Peer Review of the Hungarian R&I system Assessments of national R&I systems by experts and peers Recommendations on R&I policy reforms needed (2) Specific support to countries: Support in specific areas of R&I policy Recommendations on how to tackle this specific issue (3) Mutual learning exercises: 2015: Mutual Learning on Business R&I & new methodology Focus on issues of interest to several countries More in-depth, hands-on, based on learning-by-doing (4) RIO/PSF library: https://rio.jrc.ec.europa.eu/https://rio.jrc.ec.europa.eu/

Policy Research and Innovation Research and Innovation PSF Peer Reviews of national R&I systems (2016) Moldova (November 2015-April 2016) Focus areas: (1) Increasing the efficiency of public R&I funding and the quality of the R&I performing bodies and instruments; (2) Improving the policies for human resources and mobility of researchers; (3) Boosting business innovativeness and science-business links; and (4) Increasing R&I impact by properly defining the policy instruments. Hungary (January-June 2016) Focus areas: (1) R&I governance and policy-making; (2) Availability of human resources for research and innovation; (3) University-industry cooperation, technology transfer and entrepreneurship; and (4) Framework conditions for innovation in the business sector. Ukraine (April-September 2016) Focus areas: (1) Optimization of available policy instruments to support the national research system; (2) Internationalisation of research and integration of Ukraine into the European Research Area; (3) Role of science in Ukrainian innovations development, including advice on how to improve the links between science and the innovation system in Ukraine. Latvia (2 nd part of 2016) - Post Peer Review

Evaluation of business R&D grant schemes (February-June 2016): 5 core countries (NO, DK, ES, SE, TR, DE) and 4 observers (HU, CZ, CY, PT, RO) 4.
