Definition : Using like or as to compare two things. Ex. Ava is as cute as a cupcake.

Definition : Using exaggeration to make a point. Ex. Gabbi’s smile was a mile wide.

DEFINITION:EX. Sound words. Shekijah’s dad’s tummy rumbled and roared of hunger.

Definition : A well known expression that does not mean what it says. Ex. When Kaylee kept asking Emily to help with her puzzle, Emily said “put a sock in it!”

DEFINITION EX. Comparing two things without using like or as. Shekijah is a ray of sunshine.

Definition : Giving human qualities to something not human. Ex. The berries were screaming “eat me first!”

Definition : Repetition of a beginning sound. Ex. The purple pansy’s pantry is pink.
