Page 2 First Page We live in a very industrialized part of the world. The European Union is quite a big country, where are lots of factors which contribute to water pollution. These factors are caused either by man or by natural causes: among the natural causes belong acid rain, and the eutrophication of lakes. And among the worst man-made causes belong oil tankers crashes, traffic pollutants, bacteria, pesticides, waste treatment plants, industrial discharges. Page 3 Unluckily there is a lot of diseases spreading quickly due of water pollution, not only in Europe, but all around the world. For example one of these illnesses is Snail fever, also called schistosomiasis; it is an illness which can cause debilitation and intestine damages. The disease is provoked by a specific worm which enters a person's body from polluted water. It is most common in Asia, Africa, and South America, especially in areas where the water is contaminated by freshwater snails that carry the parasite.

Page 4 Pesticides are men-made causes for water pollution. We can find them on farms and in garden chemicals, industrial discharges, and livestock manure. Pesticides can cause cancer, but they can also alter fetal and childhood development. For animals, especially for fish, they can also be toxic.

Page 5 Water is the most important resource in our world, because we can't live without it, but unfortunately it is also wasted exceedingly. This is the reason why we should take care of it and try not to pollute it.
