26 Generalist Species Is able to thrive in a wide variety of environmental conditions & can make use of a variety of different resources. Most omnivores are generalists Examples: Humans, raccoons

27 Specialist Species Can only thrive in a narrow range of environmental conditions or has a limited diet. Most herbivores are specialists Examples: Koala, (eats only eucalyptus leaves) Eucalyptus is itself a specialist. Is only found in Australia

28 Generalist vs. Specialist Species When environmental conditions change, generalists are able to adapt, while specialists tend to fall victim to extinction much more easily.
