Migrants in Poland Traditionally a country of origin for migrat workers After 2004 UK, Ireland, Germany, Netherlands Since about 2006 increased numbers of migrants in Poland 2009 60% more permissions to work in comp. with 2008 (≈30 000) in2005 ≈10 000 Simplified procedures for seasonal employment citizens of Belarus, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine since 2006 2008 ≈160 000; 2009 ≈190 000; 2010 ≈180 000 Increasing number of refugees ( 2009 ≈10 000 applications

Abolition law Previous abolitions in 2003 and 2007/2008 Enacted in August 2011permission to settle for 2 years period No need to obtain employemnt permission during this period 6 month to apply for legalisation For all foreigners stayng in Poland illegaly ▫Permanently since 20 Dec. 2007 ▫Permanently since 1 Jan 2010 if application to recognise person as a refugee was dismissed ▫Who were subjest to 2nd proceeding to be recognised as a refugee in 1 Jan 2010
