Security of the Nation Basic interest of every country is to prevent an attack on its borders. Armies are utilized. Military alliances formed to have additional protection. How big of an army? – Israel maintains a large army based on threats around its borders. – Austria has geography on its side, and has a much smaller force. – Japan has a defense force

Within the Country Social order must be maintained within a country as well. There should be laws to maintain social order. No law, chaos. Too much law, a police state. Where is the balance?

National Terrorism Database Each group will receive a country to review. They must find five instances of terrorism within their country and describe these events. For each event: Was it domestic or international? What happened? Why did it happen? If a summary isn’t given, do a little research and see what you find.
