2 COURSE OBJECTIVES  By the end of the semester, students in this course will be able to do the following: - Explain the development of language teaching methodologies and use the rationale behind current methods and teaching practices to inform their own teaching practice. - Read, understand, and think critically about current language teaching methods and teaching techniques in SLA and FL. - Provide a professional review of foreign or second language materials in light of current trends in teaching methodologies that can be used for developing a demo class at the end of the course.

7 Assignment #1,2,3 ★ Assignment 1: Principles of Language Learning & Teaching (PLLT) Chapter presentation (10%) ★ Assignment 2: Demo class #1. (10%) - The eight teaching methodologies & philosophies e.g. CLL, GT, TPR, (De)Suggestopedia, Direct method, Silent-way, Audio-lingual ★ Assignment 3: Demo class #2. (10%) 1) The foreign language teaching demo-class (Pair-work) 2) The review the teaching tasks (individual)

8 Criteria Rubric ★ Mid/Final term exam ( 60%) - Mid term : PLLT ( concept, terminology etc.) - Final : TB ( Teaching philosophies, techniques etc.) ★ Participants (5%) - Weekly forming questions & reflection on class ★ Presentation & Assignment (30%) 1) The foreign language teaching Demo-class (Pair-work: 10%) 2) PLLT chapter presentation (10%) 3) Four Skill Teaching Demo-class (10%) ★ Attendance (5%)
