PERSPECTIVE 2 DIVIDED SPACE

Divided space is a technique by artist to put parts within an object in correct perspective (example-handles, buckles, etc.) Artists use divided space to space out objects that recede evenly into space (examples-fence posts, sidewalk cracks, rows of windows, etc.) DIVIDED SPACE METHODS: 1) “X” Method (see pp. 25 & 26 in Perspective book) 2) Fence Post Method (see p. 29 in Perspective book) 3) Diagonal Bar Method (see p. 28 in Perspective book)

X - METHOD

USING THE “X’ METHOD The first “x” was to locate the center parts; the second two “x”s were to locate the buckles on either side. Then the side and top parts were located by the “x” method. Here is the finished drawing with the “x”s erased and values added.
