Serger Basics Learn to really use your serger. Start by learning the right way to thread the serger. Adjust your tensions, learn to see what is wrong and how to fix it. Learn to do a 4 thread, 3 thread, narrow roll hem, use decorative thread, and make a flat lock. Cut an inside and out side corner. Tie off the seam. Learn to do a bow tie quilt block by serger. Make a flat lock rail fence block. Inside seam Clip any seam depth you need to trim, do not clip if you are serging along the edge. Pull the seam to straighten and serge
