3. They lived in Rome

4. 1 st invasion : In August 55 B.C. The Roman Emperor Julius Caesar invaded After winning several battles 2 nd Invasion : Following summer 54 B.C. he bought 30,000 soldiers and 2,000 horse riders 3 rd Invasion : One hundred years after – 25,000 men

5. Two reasons : 1) They were cross with Britain for helping the French fight Roman Emperor Julius Caesar 2) They came to Britain looking for riches – land, slaves, iron, silver, gold

6. The Romans remained in Britain from 43 AD to 410 AD Almost 400 years

7. They spoke a form of Latin known as vulgar Latin Different from what we learn today

8. Their home in Italy was being attacked by fierce tribes and every soldier was needed

9. (straight) Roads – Originally dirt tracks They built over 16,000 km of new roads They knew the shortest distance was form one place to another in a straight line, so they made their roads straight
