2 Chapter 10 Pony misunderstands Dally. He thinks Dally can handle anything. As it turns out, Ponyboy is stronger than Dallas. (152) Chapter 11 (162) Chapter 12 Pony wants to correct these misunderstandings and show people the truth: greasers are individuals, and have to be judged as individuals.

3  Chapter 10 -Ponyboy realizes how lonely it must be for Darry sometimes. He wants to become friends with Darry, but he doesn't know how. He is very worried that he didn't ask for Darry when he was sick.  Chapter 12~ Ponyboy feels very lonely after Johnny dies. He even tries to pretend that Johnny isn't dead at all. After a while, though, he accepts that he must go on living

4  Chapter 10~In his innocence, Ponyboy thinks that by ignoring the fact that Johnny and Dallas are dead  Chapter 11 ~Randy is innocent about how hard life can be. He learns that Ponyboy’s parents are dead, and that Darry is working hard to keep the family together. He realizes that Ponyboy and Darry are fighting to stay together.  Chapter 12~Ponyboy loses his innocence. Terrible things do happen, yet Pony now understands that they can have good effects.
