What did you decide would be a good way of using Web 2.0 to promote your film? The emergence of Web 2.0 in recent years has opened a wide range of possibilities to market films as it has brought about many different social networking sites which let people connect there ideas with each other from all other the world. We would use sites such as Rotten Tomatoes to create a buzz around the film with the film loving people. As well as using sites like Facebook, Twitter and Myspace to get people generally talking about the film.

Why have you chosen the film magazine to promote your film in? To start with we were told to research into different magazines to see which one we would have our film published in. the obvious choice for us was to choose a magazine like Empire or Total Film. However on inspection of these covers it seemed that these magazines usually had big Hollywood blockbuster films on the cover so wouldn’t be a good place to market our film. The next step for us was to identify other magazines which we could possibly put our film into to market it. We looked at little white lies, but found that it was to art house for our film so then moved onto a magazine called Sight and Sound.

Why have you chosen the film magazine to promote your film in? As we looked at the covers for Sight and Sound we found that they were much smaller films with a mixture between independent and mainstream. Which our target audience would appeal to. The use of Sight and Sound for our film is that it would reach a large audience as even though it is targeted at people who are interested in independent films big blockbusters are often shown in it as well so it gives a wide range of audience to target.

Why have you chosen the film magazine to promote your film in? Film Magazine title Heading Barcode Date Price The film company that produce the magazine To keep the attention of the reader it says here ‘Plus’ in big red letters so that you are encouraged to read about what else is in the magazine before you buy it. Film Magazine title Sub-heading On the front there is the main image of the films protagonist. The background is quite dark and reflects what the film may be about. The image is taken from a scene within the film so people come to recognise the brand. The Cannes film festival is used as a USP here to draw the audience of the magazine into the film as it has been accredited at a film festival The title is in bold and a bright blue colour as it makes it stand out to the audience.

Why have you chosen the film magazine to promote your film in? For our film magazine we chose to put it in Sight and Sound as we thought it would appeal more to our target audience. We decided to use an image from the trailer as we saw on other Sight and Sound covers that the images used were from scenes themselves. The small stories on the side are all stories which would interest our audience to.

Why have you made certain decisions about the layout of the film poster?
9
This is my individual film poster for our film The Other Side, from research I found that posters for social realism, generally showed the main characters on it with their top half shown. I have put an iconic image of Brighton on the poster which shows the location of the film to the audience. I wanted the target audience to be interested in the poster through the use of images and instantly see the contrast between both the characters on the poster. As well as attracting people who recognise the tourist image of the burnt down west pier. The use of the three words faded in the background were to show brand image between all texts.
