RESEARCH ASSESSMENT IN/FOR/BY THE HUMANITIES Peer review is a bad form of RA All other forms are worse Quality indicators must improve, anchor and simplify the process of peer review

RESEARCH ASSESSMENT IN/FOR/BY THE HUMANITIES The system must: be broad and tailor-made be open to additions and adjustments comprise output indicators & esteem indicators comprise indicators of scholarly & societal quality

RESEARCH ASSESSMENT IN/FOR/BY THE HUMANITIES The system must have quality indicators: according to its diversity: – Products – Target Groups – Publishing Cultures – Types of Output databases, catalogues, editions of texts

RESEARCH ASSESSMENT IN/FOR/BY THE HUMANITIES The Humanities need a (national) classification of Journals – Publishers - Book Series as input for peer review no form of automatic calculation whatsoever a system that is effective which means it cannot be simple
