Meeting Our Transport Challenges (MOTC) Meeting Our Transport Challenges (MOTC) sets out a strategic, long term and funded plan for Victoria’s transport system It is the biggest single transport investment program in Victoria’s history 25 year strategy, with $10.5 billion invested over the next 10 years for transport projects, including: $8.8 billion for transport infrastructure projects $1.7 billion for recurrent costs

Meeting Our Transport Challenges (MOTC) cont… $900 million for Delivering a Better Link between the East & West of Melbourne, including: Monash-City Link-West Gate Corridor Upgrade West Gate Bridge Strengthening The East-West needs assessment $1.1 billion to improve safety across Victoria’s network including the provision of safer level crossings across Melbourne (i.e. grade separation of some level crossings).

AusLink 1 AusLink 1 Projects Underway include: Pakenham Bypass ($242M) – will be open to traffic in early December 2007 Deer Park Bypass ($331M) – 10 km, expected completion late 2009 Calder Highway Upgrade to Bendigo ($395M) – 42 km, expected completion early 2009 Geelong Ring Road ($380M) – 23 km, expected completion late 2008

Key Messages Minimising congestion during construction phase. Looking for innovation to ensure delays to road users are minimised. What is designed and built needs to be maintainable – from a cost and safety perspective. Obligations on all designers now.
