1 This task uses: Common Core State Standards Follow the directions below to complete this station activity. Thesaurus with Target Words Objective: Students will be able to create precise words and will be able to explain the difference between synonyms and antonyms. 1.Click on the dictionary.com icon. 2.Once you are on the icon, locate the symbol on the top left-hand side. Click on it, and a dropdown menu appears. Once the dropdown menu appears, click on “Thesaurus”. This is the main part of the app that you will be using for the activity. 3.You will use the “Thesaurus” app in order to learn precise words, synonyms, and antonyms for the 10 target words for the current Workshop. The attached activity page will help you record your answers. Type in the target word in the search box: Click on the magnifying glass once you type in the word. 4.Record the word’s definition, three synonyms, and one antonym. CCSS 4: Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative and connotative meanings.
